Former US envoy to UN offers to create single economic area in South Caucasus
Wednesday, October 9
Former U.S. envoy to UN offered to create a single economic area in the South Caucasus.
During his visit to Georgia, founder of the Institute for Multi-track Diplomacy, John McDonald, said the idea is supported by Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili, Gruziya Online reported.
The PM supported the idea and he has already held meetings with the political leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, McDonald said.
Asked whether the idea is realistic amid Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union and Georgia’s European aspirations, John McDonald noted that he is optimistic since Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan “have much in common.” (News.Am)
