Wednesday, October 23
You will rarely see disappointed farmers with this year's vintage in Kakheti, the newspapers reports.
As experts note, the preferential loan project and the opening of the Russian market have facilitated a very successful vintage.
According to Levan Davitashvili, Chairman of the National Wine Agency, the realization of Georgian wine increased this year by 20% not including Russia, while including the Russian market, it increased by 70%.
"The most significant thing is that the private sector purchased four- times more grapes compared to the previous years," said expert Lado Uzunashvili, adding that the "state's interference is not necessary anymore and it is very good".
As Telavi Wine Cellar notes, "demand for Georgian wine has increased, so all companies have replenished their reserves and nobody has grapes remaining to sell". The company has processed 6,000 tons of grapes this year, reaching the highest mark in history. (BPI)
