FDI mostly in energy sector

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Georgia reached $458 million USD in Georgia in the first two quarters of 2013. Out of this amount, $132 million was in the energy sector of the country. This trend is quite clear after 2011. Moreover, investment in the energy sector keep increasing. In 2013, the construction of two hydro energy power stations in Smatskhe-Javakheti began. There are two power stations being built in Adjara, and more power stations are planned to be constructed in the country including the still controversial Khudoni hydro power station.
