Russian-made tanker arrives in Turkmenistan

The Alaja oil tanker built at the Krasnoye Sormovo shipbuilding plant in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod has arrived in the Turkmen port of Turkmenbashi, a message from the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan said.
According to the report, the delivery was made on the basis of a contract signed between the sides in March 2013. The Russian side said the deal's total value was estimated at $35 million.
The new tanker with a load carrying ability of 7100 tons is designed to carry crude oil and petroleum products. The ships displacement is about 10,000 tons. It is also has a good manoeuvrability, safety factor and high level of security.
According to the message, the technical and economic indicators of the tankers of 19900 project have been improved. Control tools were automated, the possibility of oil spillage into the sea in emergency situations was totally eliminated and the crew's safe working conditions during all periods of the vessel's operation were thought out.
Previously the Krasnoye Sormovo plant has built four oil tankers for Turkmenistan. These are for transporting crude oil and oil products in the Capian Sea basin. These vessels include Sumbar, Jeyhun and Khazar which were built in 2009-2010 and Etrek belonging to the 19900 project was handed over to the customer in May 2012.
The lead tanker Jeyhun from the 19900 project built for Turkmenistan in 2010, was included in the 2010 Significant Ships list by the British The Royal Institution of Naval Architects. (Trend)
