Export of citruses to Russia underway

According to the Minister of Agriculture of the Adjaran Autonomous Republic, Zaur Putkaradze, on November 27th a ship entered the port of Batumi to transport the first shipment of Georgian citrus fruit to Russia. Already more than 7500 tones of citruses have been exported to neighbouring countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Belarus.
27 businesses are producing, sorting and packaging citruses in Adjara. Transportation of one ton of citruses from Batumi to Novorossiysk costs approximately $70 and the customs duty for each ton in Novorossiysk is $265.
