To be a solider – it requires sacrifice, devotion as a soldier risks life to defend homeland. We have a lot of hero soldiers. We are proud nation. We know that many brave soldiers died heroically in the battles for Georgian territorial integrity and in international missions as well. We are grateful to your families. Georgia’s aspiration is to be an European country. We should set up all standards for our soldiers as European militaries have. That’s why we have a happy day today. On behalf of the Georgian Government, we handed new flats to approximately 900 military servicemen. Among them are the soldiers, who fallen heroically, as well as wounded, or amputated militaries. I would like to highlight that this is our duty. We are obliged to care for our soldiers’ better life. Image of the country is defined according to its attitude towards soldiers and each citizen. This day is a good confirmation that our country cares for militaries. I know that many soldiers still remain without flats. But we do our best to give them dwellings” – stated Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili. As Defence Minister Irakli Alasania stated, “First of all, I’d like to express my gratitude to those people, constructors, who completed the building of these blocks. I’d also like to promise our soldiers that construction works will continue and the obligations, our state has taken towards hero soldiers and military servicemen will be fulfilled. I’d like to emphasize the merit of ex-Prime Minister, Bidzina Ivanishvili who mobilized all state funds in order to conclude the construction works here. Our Government will continue the projects for military servicemen in order to carry out their duty in worthy manner”. The flats were handed in the ownership of the family members of those military servicemen who died in ISAF mission in Afghanistan and OIF mission in Iraq, as well families of 22 militaries who died in the Lapankhuri special operation. 37 Militaries wounded during ISAF, OIF missions, in Lapankhuri special operation, in 2008 August War and other circumstances also received new flats today.
