Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia blessed Wounded Military
Thursday, December 26
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia hosted Georgian wounded military servicemen at the Patriarchate of Georgia. Military servicemen wounded in the August War 2008, in international missions, and while performing service duties, will undergo a prosthesis program in the Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic, San Diego, California, USA. Before traveling to the USA, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II blessed the Georgian soldiers, wishing them a quick recovery and return to their homeland.
The injured soldiers will travel to the U.S. clinic to undergo a prosthesis program, under the organizational support of the Georgian side, on December 27. At the first stage, 8 wounded servicemen will undergo the treatment course in the USA. They were selected according to their types of injuries. One Georgian specialist will accompany the wounded servicemen to the USA in order to master the working specifications of a bio-electrically controlled prosthesis.
The soldiers with amputated limbs will be provided with bio-micro prostheses. They will be able to easily move on difficult terrain with the help of advanced electric limbs. The new prosthesis which can resist extreme conditions will enable the servicemen to pursue a more active life.
The MoD permanently monitors physical, psychological, as well as social conditions of wounded soldiers in order to prevent any kind of complication at the time.
A rehabilitation course at the Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic is included for all the servicemen. After returning home they will return to their units to continue military service there.
