Representatives of the Georgian wine industry are unanimous in the fact that 2013 was very successful for the Georgian wine industry. The main breakthrough for this was the return of Georgian wines and spirits to the Russian market.
In the beginning of the year it was planned to sell about 10 million bottles of wine in Russia, but in reality, 22 million bottles were sold and the figures are growing each day. Some analysts, however, express their concern warning about the threats in case of Georgian wine producers will switch completely to the strategy of going back to the Russian market.
Russian politics is unpredictable. It is not excluded that according to the order of Russian policy makers, Russia would find some fault again with the Georgian wine and impose yet another embargo.
Appropriate regulations should be established over the price of grapes in Georgia as well.
