Currently, Azerbaijan is consuming a huge amount of fuel inside the country. There are an increasing number of cars in the country. This creates a deficit, and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has to take certain steps to decrease its export of petrol and diesel. Of course, if this becomes necessary, this will definitely influence the situation in Georgia.
Georgia is receiving petrol and diesel from Romania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Russia. Any kind of restriction on import from Azerbaijan will negatively influence the situation in Georgia not only for local consumers, but for the transit transportation as well.
