Education Ministry plans to reform school security officer institute
The Ministry of Education and Science plans to reform the institute of school security officers called "Mandaturi". The reform will be carried out in accordance with the amendments made to the Law on General Education and the Law on Professional Education. The mandaturi officers will have a new title and they will be called children`s protection officers. They will also have the function of mediating altercations and providing psychological assistance to the school students. The minimum age for the candidates who wish to become child protection officers will increase from 20 to 23. (Rustavi 2)
Snow forecast for 8 January
Snow is in the forecast for Georgia on January 8. InterpressNews was told by the Ministry of Environment and Natural protection that cold air will enter Georgia from the Northwest of the Black Sea, and that will cause wet weather and rain in the Black Sea region, sleet in the Koklheti lowlands, and snow in the mountains.
Heavy snow may be in Svaneti and the Adjarian high mountainous regions and average snow in the Eastern Georgian regions. The weather will brighten up on 8 January, in the second half of the day. (InterPressNews)
Georgian Lari will have a currency symbol – contest has begun
The Lari, Georgia’s national currency, will have receive a symbol. The National Bank of Georgia has declared a contest on the currency symbol. The National Bank informs that an interim commission has been set up to select the GEL sign. Those willing to participate in the contest have to submit applications by January 27th of 2014 to the National Bank of Georgia located at 2 Sanapiro Street.
