Georgia has started a special program designed to facilitate farmers with small plots of land. It is planned that in 2014 the government will assist 800,000 farmers. The farmers will receive special cards with a certain amount of money on it in the frames of this program. It is planned to spend 90 million GEL in this direction.
195 million GEL has been allotted for the same purpose in 2013. The farmers with small land plots are distributed according to the different categories. Some farmers will receive cards for purchasing fertilizers and pesticides, while others will receive additional cards for plowing.
Some analysts suggest that this total amount will not be enough and at least 150 million GEL will be necessary.
