More than 300, 000 people visit Georgia in January

More than 300, 000 international guests visited Georgia last month.
The latest figures from the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that 319, 499 people visited Georgia in January 2014, which was 14.1% more compared to the same period in 2013.
Of these visitors, 122, 714 (38.4%) were tourists, 53, 241 (16.6%) were in transit and 143, 544 (45%) of visitors came to Georgia for business or other unspecified reasons.
The highest number of visitors came from Turkey, followed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine and Iran.
The ministry said that the data showed a positive trend where more visitors from European Union countries continued to visit Georgia.
Last month, 163% more visitors from Poland touched down in Georgia than in January of the previous year.
Similarly, the number of visitors from Italy, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Middle East – Israel, Belarus and Moldova also increased year on year. (Agenda.Ge)
