Thursday, February 20
In 2013, Turkish labor and social protection ministry issued more than 45,000 labor permits for foreigners (more than 8,000 are Georgian citizens).
The ministry reports that most of the foreigners work as guides and servants. However, apart from the official figures, in reality there are many more Georgians working illegally in Turkey.
The labor migrants from Georgia to Turkey send their savings to the homeland. $3.4 million USD was transferred in January 2014, which is three times more than in the same period last year. (The Messenger)
