Azerbaijan to build a factory for local needs

The joint stock company Azerbaijan Railways and the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group will build a factory for producing locmotives for local needs in Ganja. The primary aim of this enterprise will be the provision of locomotives for Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railways.
This will satisfy the needs of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars route and probably other destinations as well. Negotiations are also underway for purchasing 30 passenger carriages from Stadler Rail Group for the above-mentioned project.
It is also planned to finish and launch the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line by the end of 2014. The railway runs on the territories of three countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The first two are financing their shares with their own money, while Georgia has received soft credit from Azerbaijan.
