According to the Georgian ministry of Agriculture, Georgia will receive around 160,000 tons of wheat harvest in 2014. This year the amount of land used in wheat production has increased by 40%. There is an opportunity that by the end of this year Georgia could yield more than 200,000 tons of grain.
During the previous administration, the wheat harvest was decreasing and eventually the country was only able to satisfy 10% of its wheat demand and the rest was imported.
Georgia’s current administration is doing its best to increase the wheat production, thus trying to satisfy more of the local demand.
