Slight increase in Georgian population

From existing data, on January 2, 2014 the Georgian population was 4.49 million. Last year this figure was 4.48. The statistical department states that 53.7 % live in an urban region, 46.3 % in rural areas. 47.7% are male, 52.3% female. In 2013, 95,064 persons migrated from the country. Unfortunately, the tendency is that more Georgians go and live abroad and do not come back.
