According to the new calculation of the Georgian government, it appeared that the existing minimum income in the country is not 150 GEL as it was suggested by the United National Movement administration but 270 GEL.
A new methodology was applied, which studied the situation at five major cities of Georgia Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Gori and Telavi and created more or less reliable picture about the amount of an existing minimum income.
Of course, the approach needs further improvements, as it is a long and difficult process. A new methodology should be applied and more specialists and experts should be involved. It thus requires extra efforts and time.
It is difficult to say when the process will be over and whether the country will be able to satisfy all these needs.
