Sweden and Georgia sign agreement on development

An agreement on development cooperation between Sweden and Georgia during the period 2014-2020 was signed by Mrs. Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, Sida's Director General, representing Sweden and by Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri, representing Georgia.
The new results strategy for Sweden's reform cooperation in the Western Balkans, Turkey and Eastern Europe, including Georgia, in total encompasses approximately 8 billion Swedish kronor (over 2 billion lari) for the years 2014-2020.
On the basis of the strategy, Sweden and Georgia entered into a new cooperation agreement. The cooperation aims to contribute to results in the following areas:
•Enhanced economic integration with the EU and development of a functioning market economy.
•Strengthened democracy, greater respect for human rights and a more fully developed state under the rule of law.
•A better environment reduced climate impact and enhanced resilience to environmental impact and climate change.
The signing of a cooperation agreement between Sweden and Georgia was followed by a round-table discussion with the Georgian government on the new strategy.
