Georgia’s National Tourism Agency plans to host 6 million foreign tourists in Georgia. It reports that 4.4million foreign tourists visited Georgia in 2012. The figure was increased to 5.3 million in 2013. Of course, these figures are not accurate. It should be clearly distinguished who is just a visitor and who is a tourist. Apart from sea resorts, Georgian mountains also attract tourists. Tbilisi is the biggest destination from the cities, followed by Batumi. Tourists visit the Kazbegi region. Kakheti wine tours are also popular. A major portion of tourists come from Turkey, followed by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia. Georgian tourism officials hope to attract holidaymakers from Ukraine this summer, as there are serious problems in terms of Crimea. The tourism industry is starting to develop in Georgia. There are many challenges: quality of service, roads, infrastructure and many other details that need to be refined. Tourism officials are establishing accurate forms for calculating expenditure and profits gained from tourism.
