The Russian market leads the way in the export of Georgian wine. In the first seven months, Georgia exported more than 31 million bottles of wine to Russia. Accordingly, Georgia has increased its revenue through export. The second position is taken by Ukraine among the major export destination. Georgian wine is exported to Kazakhstan, Netherlands, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Azerbaijan, as well as to some western European countries and the United States. Georgian wine industry experts think that the suspension of the free-trade regime by Russia will increase the price of Georgian wine by around 20%. However, the problem mainly concerns Russian consumers. Georgian wine has returned to the Russian market quite successfully and regained its popularity throughout the country. Georgia should also benefit for its membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO). Russia is also a member of the organization.
