Power consumption growing in Georgia

In January-July 2014, Georgia's power consumption, excluding losses, was 6,301.3 million KWh, or 7 percent more than in the same period of 2013 (5,902.8m kwh), Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) told Trend Aug. 26.

During the reporting period, Georgia's power consumption, taking into account the losses, stood at 6,434.4m kwh.

Between January and July 2014, the direct consumers received 929m kwh of electricity, while the energy distributing companies got 4,894m kwh.

In January-July 2014, the thermal power plants, as well as the seasonal and regulating plants in Georgia generated 5,975.7m kwh of electricity.

During the reporting period, the electricity import totaled 287.7m kwh, while exports of electricity stood at 478.4m kwh.

In 2013, Georgia's power consumption, not taking into account the losses, amounted to 10,140.6m kwh, or 2.4 percent more than in 2012 (9,907.53m kwh).
