Awards Ceremony at Kandahar Air Base

The awards ceremony for Georgia’s military servicemen was held at the Kandahar Air Base. Commander of the Regional Command South rewarded Georgian military of the Special Mountain Battalion with the ISAF medals. Major General Michael Bills delivered speech to the Georgian soldiers and thanked the Georgian soldiers for their contribution to the global security and successful fulfilling of the ISAF mission. High-rank U.S. military officials, the leadership of Regional Command South and Special Mountain Battalion attended the awarding ceremony at the Kandahar Air Base. The Mountain-Special Battalion is the first Georgian unit which is carrying out the ISAF mission on the Air Base of the province of Kandahar. The main duty of the battalion is to defend the air base together with coalition forces, patrol for security of the local population and provide peace in its operational area. 150 military servicemen of the Special Mountain Battalion will return to Georgia soon.
