Competition in Shooting

Sport event was held at the firing ground of IV Mechanized Brigade of the GAF. Defence attaches and ambassadors accredited to Georgia competed with one another in shooting. Head of NATO Liaison Office to Georgia William Lahue and Military Liaison Officer of North-Atlantic Alliance, Colonel Maximilian Eder participated in the tournament as well.
First Deputy Defence Minister Irakli Gegechkori, as well as Deputy Chiefs of general Staff of the GAF, Brigadier General Vladimir Chachibaia and Colonel Roman Jokhadze hosted the diplomats at the Vaziani firing ground.
Before the tournament, the representatives of the diplomatic corps were delivered information on safety rules of shooting. The participants competed with one another in shooting from “M4” rifles and “Barak” pistols.
Latvian Defence Attache, Colonel Janis Dreimanis was the victor in the shooting competition. First Deputy Defence Minister Irakli Gegechkori awarded him a Soldier souvenir. Deputy Ambassador of Swedish Kingdom to Georgia Gustav Wintrand and U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, Art Michel took the second and third places in the competition.
The leadership of the Land Forces Command of the GAF delivered presentation on the structure and organization of Eastern Command and IV Mechanized Brigade to the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Georgia. The guests were also able to view the military equipment and technique at the Vaziani base. The competition in shooting for diplomats was held under the aegis of Defence Ministry of Georgia.
