Wednesday, November 26
On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at 14:00, Mr. Yuval Fuchs, Ambassador of Israel to Georgia will be joined by USAID and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, at the closing of the MASHAV workshop on “Modern Techniques of Dairy Cow Management, Feeding, and Veterinary Care” at the NEO-supported Agricultural Resource Center “Agro House” in Zugdidi. The workshops were conducted by two Israeli experts from MASHAV for 60 USAID/NEO beneficiary farmers and extension agents of the Ministry of Agriculture in Georgia in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions.
MASHAV – Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation – was launched in 1957 with the aim of sharing with the developing world the know-how and technologies, which provided the basis for Israel's own rapid development. Since its establishment MASHAV has trained close to 270,000 course participants from 132 countries in Israel and abroad and has developed dozens of demonstration projects worldwide. In the last 20 years close to 1,000 trainees from Georgia took part in MASHAV courses and consultancies in Israel and in Georgia in various fields of activities such as agriculture, healthcare, education, gender issues, small and medium enterprises, and more. MASHAV’s country program for Georgia focuses on building capacities in agriculture through training, technical assistance, and introducing modern Israeli technologies. Over the past several years MASHAV has implemented on-the-spot courses and short term consultancies in several areas of Georgia (Shida Kartli, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Kvemo Kartli, and Samtskhe-Javakheti) in close cooperation with international partners such as USAID/NEO, Ministry of Agriculture of Gerogia, and Government of Georgia. Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Otar Danelia visited Israel and held a meeting with the head of MASHAV, Mr. Gil Haskel. The parties discussed future cooperation. (Embassy of Israel)
