On December 25, 2015 in a hall of Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research was presented at the Media Resource Project “Local/Regional Economic Development Network as decisive leverage point for enhanced competitiveness in the Black Sea Basin regions”.
From May 2013, Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research has been carrying out the project “Local/Regional Economic Development Network as decisive leverage point for enhanced competitiveness in the Black Sea Basin regions”(http://www.georgia.lred-net.org/ge ).
Project is funded by the “European Union Black Sea Programme” with duration of 2 years. Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research is a partner of project’s beneficiary “Small and Medium Enterpreneurship Development National Center” in Georgia. Main countries where projects and different activities are carried out are : Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Greece and Bulgaria.
In August and October, 2014 within this project was held the research on factors of local economic competitiveness in Samtredia, Dmanisi and Martvili municipalities. The research was conducted by using the so-called PACA methodology (enhancing competitive advantage through the co-participation)
Local entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations, local authorities and stakeholders were attending the training.
Each competitive production with a high growth potential for every municipality was explored and analyzed carefully. In this way the following enterprises were selected:
Martvili – A small enterprise, wine cellar, “Martvili Wine”
Samtredia – Nut Enterprise
Dmanisi – Cheese Enterprise
After analysis and discussions with experts and local actors there was explicated necessity to solve main issues for sector development . Local initiatives for short-term period were mentioned as well.
Further activity of the project includes (English version publication) analytical manuals regarding three regions - “Enhancing Competitive Advantage through the Co-participation”. Concerning to the international scale , these analytical manuals will be prepared for all project partner countries: In Armenia, Moldova, Greece and Bulgaria.
