Georgia’s year-on-year inflation stands at 2% in Dec. 2014

In December 2014, the year-on-year inflation in Georgia stood at two percent, according to Georgia’s National Statistics Office (GeoStat).
GeoStat said the change in prices in the following groups has had a main impact on formation of this inflation level in Georgia:
- Food products and non-alcohol beverages;
The prices in this group rose by 2.5 percent, which was 0.78 percentage points in the inflation index. In particular, the prices of fruits and grape rose by 21.2 percent, fish – by 3.2 percent, milk, cheese and eggs - by 3.9 percent.
- Furniture, household items;
The prices in this group rose by four percent, which was 0.23 percentage points in the inflation index. The prices rose mainly for household appliances (an increase of nine percent);
- Health care;
The prices in this area in Georgia rose by 6.7 percent in December 2014, which was 0.7 percentage points in the inflation index. The prices of medical equipment and medicines rose by 13.8 percent.
