The Ministry of Economy will not interfere in the construction of the Tbilisi Panorama, a $500 million project initiated and funded by the Co-Investment Fund created through the assistance of former PM Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Minister of Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili has responded to the criticism over the project-related infrastructure and cable ways and said that the rope-way complex in Tbilisi would be an important innovation providing support to tourism and the economy.
“The project will operate within the law. I welcome this project, since it improves the touristic infrastructure in Tbilisi. In my opinion, all these speculations around the Tbilisi Panorama project are just another black political campaign,” stated Kvirikashvili.
Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania has stated that no active work has been launched concerning the project in Tbilisi.
“According to my information, no work has been undertaken as of yet on ridge of Sololaki,” stated Narmania.
A rope-way station connecting the central part of Tbilisi to highland infrastructure will no longer be built on Erekle Square. The status of the landscape-recreation zone might be changed and removed from the Sololaki hill as well.
However, environmentalists and the opposition in City Hall still demand a delay in the project and request that detailed studies are undertaken first.
