Turkey fails to rid itself of energy dependence – President

Turkey is unable to eliminate its energy dependence on other countries, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted Jan. 21 by Sabah newspaper as saying.
He said that Turkey has limited oil and gas resources.
“Despite limited natural resources, Turkey could become an energy bridge between the countries rich in hydrocarbons and the countries having a need for them,” the president said.
President Erdogan said that Turkey becoming an energy bridge between countries has great importance.
Turkey is actively searching for oil fields to reduce dependence on oil product supplies from abroad. Hope was pinned on oil exploration in the region of Sinop in 2012. But no oil was found. (Trend.az)
