Fellowship volleyball match

The Ministry of Defence of Georgia continues supporting the rehabilitation of wounded Georgian soldiers and their integration into society. To this end a fellowship volleyball match was held. The teams composed of the military wounded in Abkhazian War, 2008 August military activities and the ISAF international mission as well as the employees of Military Scientific-technical Centre “Delta” competed each other.
Minister of Defence Mindia Janelidze, his Deputy Gocha Ratiani, Chief of the General Staff of the GAF Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, UK Defence Attache to Georgia Nick Wilkes and the representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the GS and MSTC “Delta” attended the game.
A professional referee assigned by the Georgian Volleyball Federation mediated the game that ended with the score 24:21 in favor of the wounded soldiers.
The volleyball team composed of the wounded military servicemen has been formed in Georgia for the first time. Along with the MoD leadership, MSTC “Delta” also takes an active part in the rehabilitation process of the injured military. With the purpose of further developing this kind of sport in future, the “Delta” representatives handed the participants volleyball net and fixings.
Georgian soldiers wounded in action are actively participating in sports events. The Georgian servicemen alongside the NATO member countries` wounded soldiers will participate in the international competition “Wounded Warriors` Games” due to be held in California in March. Today`s match is the part of the preparatory stage for the San Diego Championship.
