The European Union Mobile Information Centre (EMIC) started its new informational season and will provide citizens with information about the EU throughout Georgia.
The EMIC launched its 2015 tour on Tuesday 31 March.
It will provide citizens across Georgia with easy access to information about cooperation between Georgia and the European Union.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Tserovani School No. 3. This is the school where IDP children from the Tskhinvali region are studying.
The ceremony was attended by the Head of Operations Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia Kaido Sirel, and the Deputy Governor of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region of Georgia Gocha Zeikidze.
The EU Mobile Info Centre provided students with information covering a wide range of areas, including EU activities in Georgia, and disseminated a special Georgian language edition of the book Let's Explore Europe.
At the event, a documentary film entitled Travel to Europe, by Toma Chagelishvili, was shown to the students.
Sirel and Zeikidze played with the EU map puzzle and colored in the coloring book with flags of EU Member States together with the students.
Using a magnetic map, the students were showed the stages of EU enlargement. The students also took part in the quiz "How well do I know Europe?" The winning students were presented with special gifts bearing the EU symbol by the representative of EU Delegation to Georgia and the governor.
“Interaction is the main tool for fruitful collaboration. Those children are involved in the processes and it makes everything easier for them. I think being informed about the world they live in is very important,” stated Sirel.
“These children have been through many bad events. I think it is important for them to know what the real world is like,” stated Zeikidze.
“I liked the presentation very much, all the information was new and interesting. I would like to attend things like this in the future too,” said twelfth-grader Lasha Demurashvili.
The Let’s Meet Europe program was first launched about four years ago. During this season, the EU plans to visit 140 schools within the framework of the program.
