Visit to Republic of France

Georgian MoD delegation paid a three-day official visit to the Republic of France. Defence Minister Mindia Janelidze was hosted by his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian. The official welcoming ceremony was held in front of the Defence Ministry of France.
At the meeting the Ministers discussed existing cooperation issues and future relation prospects between Defence Ministries of Georgia and France. Ministers also referred to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration. French Minister of Defence thanked the Georgian side for its participation in the peacekeeping operation ongoing in the Central African Republic under the auspices of EU. The sides also touched upon the regional security issues.
“The visit was very successful as we have a great prospect to deepen bilateral cooperation with France in education, military training and military-technical sphere. We will continue active relation with France. New prospects, new platforms of relation are appeared within our relations. Georgia will deepen cooperation with France as one of the leading nation of NATO” – stated Defence Minister.
Defence Minister attended the fire rekindling ceremony at the Arch de Triomphe in the framework of the official visit to the Republic of France. The Georgian delegation members came to the Arch de Triomphe as well.
