Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili stated that the Georgian and Turkmenistan views over the economics strategy meet.
He made the statement during the course of his meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov, who arrived to Georgia on July 2.
Margvelashvili stressed that the economic cooperation and Georgia’s transit role for the Turkmenistan energy products benefit the both countries’ economics and provide peace in the region.
“Our main topic of conversation was the deepening of trade-economic relationships between our countries. Turkmenistan sees development strategy very well. That is why we will continue working on the issues. Projects that will be launched will bring benefits not only to our counties, but to the whole region as well,” stated Margvelashvili.
Margevlashvili stated that he will take part the events dedicated to Turkmenistan’s 20th year anniversary of neutrality at the end of the year.
Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan and Georgia have good political and cultural relationships, but their trade-economic ties need to be increased further.
“As for cultural and humanitarian connections, our people have great historic relationships and many similar traditions, such as respecting the elderly, etc. I think that cultural relationships can be deepened and their potential used,” Berdimuhamedov said.
Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili, Minister of Economy and Vice PM Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Head of the Presidential Administration Davit Pataraia and President’s advisors Giorgi Abashishvili and Tengiz Pkhaladze met the President of Turkmenistan at the airport.
Later Bedimuhamedov also held meetings with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili and Parliament Chairman Davit Usupashvili.
Berdimuhamedov also paid tribute to the heroes who died protecting Georgia’s territorial integrity.
The ceremony of granting Berdimuhamedov a title of an honorable academician was also held on July 2.
Berdimuhamedov and his delegation are leaving Georgia today.
