Ashgabat, Delhi discuss TAPI gas pipeline project

Discussing of the TAPI gas pipeline project (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) has become one of the key topics of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Turkmenistan July 11, a source close to the negotiations told Trend.

He said that the practical implementation of this ambitious project was discussed at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Earlier it was reported that the 1,800 kilometer TAPI gas pipeline (200 km - through the territory of Turkmenistan, 773 km - through the territory of Afghanistan, 827 km - through the territory of Pakistan until Fazilka settlement on the border with India) is designed to provide the countries, with the population over 1.5 billion people, with gas.

Earlier it was reported that Penspen is engaged in the feasibility study of the project.

The annual capacity of the gas pipeline is 33 billion cubic meters.
