Fire in Tbilisi leaves two dead and five injured

Two individuals died and five injured after the large-scaled fire in Tbilisi's Didube district, near Eliava market.
The fire broke out on August 4. According to Tbilisi Mayor Davit Narmania, initially blaze appeared from a paint warehouse.
The two victims of the fire are the director of the warehouse and his deputy.
“There was a threat of spreading the fire onto other buildings. However, our fire brigades and rescuers managed to stop the expansion,” Narmania said.
More than a hundred firefighters and rescue workers spent hours at the scene, a helicopter was also used in the anti-fire operation.
Tens of thousands worth of damage has been caused through the fire that according to already made statements was because of extremely high temperature.
Heath conditions of three injured are rather heavy, one of them is a firefighter who inflicted facial burnt and a rescuer with smoke intoxication.
The fire was extinguished the same day. However, relevant structures’ representatives spent whole night there to avoid any additional complications.
Tbilisi City Hall has promised to provide assistance to the families of the Eliava marketplace fire victims.
Mayor Davit Narmania has stated that definite reasons of the fire would be revealed through the investigation.
One more fire took place in Tbilisi the same day and another in Borjomi, in the eastern part of Georgia.
In Tbilisi, near the Sports Palace in Saburtalo, one hectare of trees, bush and shrubbery was burnt.
Deputy Head of the Tbilisi Emergency Agency Davit Gelashvili could not specify the cause of the fire and stressed that no one was injured in the blaze.
In recent days, the Borjomi forest caught alight in the dry heat for the second time.
The fire emerged near a cableway and quickly spread over 100 sqm. Locals stressed the extremely high temperatures of late was most likely the cause of the fire.
