Memorandum signed by the ministries for popularization of the Georgian Army

In order to raise awareness and the popularity of the Georgian Armed Forces (GAF), a new school subject is being introduced. Female members of the Georgia cabinet signed a memorandum of cooperation on August 8.
The Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Education and Science announced the launch of a new joint project to increase the popularity of the army and raise morale in the country's youth. Based on the memorandum, a new school subject, Military History and National Defence, will be introduced to Georgian students.
Also, Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli, Education Minister Tamar Sanikidze and Justice Minister Thea Tsulukiani will personally lead a program titled Letters to Soldiers. 4-5 graders will send letters to military servicemen taking part in international peacekeeping missions. Also the 7-8 graders will participate in a competition 'Modern Day Heroes' and as a part of the project they will prepare reports about the August 2008 war heroes.
The memorandum was intentionally signed on August 8, the day which marks university of the Georgia-Russian war.
“Our generations should be raised according to the deeds of our past and modern time heroes. That is why we welcome the initiative to give the opportunity to the school pupils to familiarize with the August war heroes. It is important to immortalize their names and to raise future generations in the right way. It is important to be aware of the challenges faced by our country and the demands set by the 21st century,” stated the Minister of Defence.
