Tinatin Khidasheli Met with the U.S. Secretary of Defense

“Exceptionally cordial and fruitful meeting” – Minister of Defense of Georgia Tinatin Khidasheli evaluated her meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter. The most important meeting within the frames of the working visit to the USA was held in the Pentagon and lasted longer than scheduled. The sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the defence sphere. The U.S. side stressed that Georgia won’t be left alone in its efforts of boosting its defence capabilities.
As Georgia’s Defence Minister stated, the meeting in the Pentagon once again proved that the U.S.-Georgia partnership is based on true friendship, common values and practical support.
“More assistance and support for the Georgian Army and generally for Georgia’s security environment to achieve that Georgia – U.S. partner country is capable of responding to regional threats successfully and adequately. This is the promise we received from the U.S. Secretary of Defence and it will bring realistic results in the nearest future,” Tinatin Khidasheli said.
