Georgian Military Serviceman at Para Canoe Kayak World Championship

Military serviceman of the Georgian Armed Forces wounded in Afghanistan are getting ready for their participation in the World Championship in Para Canoe Kayak. Before the competition, Akhmed Saparov undergoes special training with the assistance of the Georgian National Rafting Federation. The Federation assigned an individual trainer for the Georgian soldier to practice for the upcoming tournament.
The Canoe Sprint World Championship will be held in Milan, Italy on August 19-23. Akhmed Saparov took a decision to take part in the competition during his rehabilitation course in the United States of America.
Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze and Deputy Defence Minister Besik Loladze wished success to the Georgian soldier and emphasized that rehabilitation of the wounded warriors and support for their participation in the various sports events is one of the priorities for the Defence Ministry.
Georgian military serviceman received the invitation from the President of the European Canoe Federation. RIO2016 Paralympic qualification quota slots for each kayak event will be selected at the Milan 2015 World Championships as well. The Georgian soldier will take part in such kind of competition for the first time.
The Private of the 33rd Battalion of the III Infantry Brigade was caught in an explosion on a mine during the ISAF mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan and lost both limbs. He underwent a rehabilitation course in Washington, Walter Reed Military Medical Center.
