NATO Secretary General meets parents of a girl killed by Anders Breivik

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, met the family of a Georgian girl Tamta Liparteliani, who was one of the people killed by terrorist Anders Breivik on Utoya Island, Norway in 2011.
The meeting was initiated by Secretary General himself, when he was on his first official visit in Georgia on August 26-27. Stoltenberg asked Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili to organize a meeting with the victim's family at the end of his visit.
The Secretary General expressed his condolences to the Liparteliani family, who came to the meeting with their other daughter whom they had adopted after the tragedy.
“I want to express my condolences to you; I have read a lot about your daughter in the newspapers; we opened a special place in Norway where we can pay tribute to the victims, including your daughter,” Jens Stoltenberg told Liparteliani’s parents.
The 23-year old Tamta Liparteliani was one of 77 victims killed by Anders Breivik, a Norwegian right-wing terrorist and the perpetrator of the 2011 Norway attacks.
Her body was found on the bottom of the lake, with gunshot wounds to the back. She had been with another Georgian girl, who was at the same camp but survived. She was a university graduate and activist in the Young Socialists youth group, which sent the girls to Norway.
On 22 July 2011, Anders Breivik killed eight people by setting off a van bomb amid government buildings in Oslo, then shot dead 69 participants of Workers' Youth League (AUF) summer camp on the island of Utoya.
Breivik’s attacks claimed a total of 77 lives.
