Minister of Economy speaks on increased tourist inflow

Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili has stated that tourist flow has been increased in Georgia from Russia.
As he said at a press conference on September 15, in January-August of 2015 the number of passengers in international airports of Georgia amounted to 1,501,748, which is 10% more than the figure (1.365.213) of the same period of 2014.
In addition, the Minister said that the number of passengers from Georgia to Russia has increased as well. In particular, the number of tourists in January-August of 2015 increased by 92 %.
According to the Minister, all this is a result of the correct policy pursued by the Georgian government.
"As a result of our decisions, the number of visitors from Russia increased by 15% in January-August 2015 and amounted to 642 934. In this period, they spent 756 733 318 GEL in our country", - said the Minister of Economy.
Also, Kumsishvili said that the number of passengers has increased to other directions as well: by 64 percent (54 559 passengers) from Georgia to the United Arab Emirates, by 32 increase (67 474 passengers) to Israel and by 21 percent (33 649 passengers) to Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile the opposition United National Movement keeps criticizing the government for its wrong economic policy.
They stress that to close economic ties with the occupant countries might cause negative outcomes in the future.
The stress that Georgia seek closer cooperation with European states and markers.
