Introduction of visa-free regime will be signal of EU support to Georgia, Georgia’s PM said in Estonia

“The establishment of a visa-liberalization regime will be a clear demonstration of the EU’s support for Georgia’s European choice and a real result of the conducted reforms,” Georgia’s PM Irakli Garibashvili said while visiting Estonia.
He has also referred to the significance of deepening Georgia-Estonia relations adding that one of the main goals is the improvement of their economic relationship.
Irakli Garibashvili also referred to the results achieved in terms of media freedom, saying Georgia is a regional leader in this respect. He has emphasized the importance of Georgian legislative reforms and stated that any person is allowed to open a TV company within two days, and the government considers the freedom of the media a state priority.
“Estonia has been and will remain one of Georgia’s most reliable partners and a close ally as the country strives towards the Euro-Atlantic sphere,” Prime Minister of Estonia Taavi Roivas stated during his meeting with his Georgian counterpart.
The Georgian top official, who paid a two-day visit to the friendly nation, was hosted in the country’s PM’s official residence.
The sides discussed ways of deepening cooperation between the two countries, Georgia’s intentions of achieving membership in both the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), as well as the major ongoing issues in the region.
Focus was placed on trade-economic relations, and the Estonian PM stated that Estonian businessmen were interested in investing in Georgia.
They also discussed the successful use of tourist potential by both of the states. It has been emphasised that Estonia enjoyed a rich experience in terms of electronic governance, Irakli Garibashvili’s Press Office said.
Garibashvili also thanked Rivas for his country’s support for Georgia to become a member of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations (UN) in 2016-2018.
During the meeting, Garibashvili had the opportunity to enjoy the capital city’s views from the Residence balcony.
It should be noted that the Georgian official delegations’ visit to Estonia (which was composed of Georgia’s Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia, the Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Davit Bakrade and the Minister of Economics Dimitri Kumsishvili), coincided with the celebration of Tbilisoba in the Estonian capital.
