New crisis management project is launched in Georgia

A new crisis management project, which is the Georgian analog of the British model, was launched in Georgia.
Moreover, a national situation room was opened within the project. It is a room equipped with modern technical facilities, which will help its 100-member staff to manage crisis situations more efficiently.
The presentation was opened by the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who thanked the British Government Adviser on Security and Crisis Management Issues, Sir Garry Johnson, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom Designate to Georgia, Alexandra Hall Hall, for their support and assistance.
Kvirikashvili also thanked the Secretary of the State Security and Crisis Management Council, Mindia Janelidze, and the Council for their contribution to the establishment of the center.
According to the PM, the situation room will ensure improved coordination between the relevant agencies in critical situations and better crisis management. He also noted that the project started in 2014, during the tenure of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
“We live in a region full of challenges…we this kind of situation room to deal with those challenges. It will also ensure improved coordination between the relevant agencies in critical situations and better crisis management,” said Kvirikashvili.
It should be noted that the technical upgrading of the situation room was completed in December 2015. The room is divided into different thematic zones. During the crisis, a special purpose vehicle will be located at the epicenter, which has a permanent connection with the situational room and can function independently.
The Council of Crisis management is a governmental structure led by the Prime Minister of Georgia.
