The Prime Minister congratulated potential visitors of Tetnuldi on the successful termination of project.
He stated that Georgia's potential to build more mountainous resorts shall be utilized maximally.
The Prime Minister considers tourism to be one of the top priorities for the Government, and thinks that development of the industry will bring additional investments and new jobs to the Georgian community.
"One ski track is currently operating in Tetnuldi. We intend to add three more ski lifts by the end of this year. This will be one of the best resorts not only in Georgia, but throughout whole of Eastern Europe. We also plan to build additional cableway that will connect Tetnuldi with the village of Mulakhi. Furthermore, a route from Svaneti to Kutaisi will also be built and will go through Tsageri and Lentekhi. Thus, the distance between Kutaisi Airport and Tetnuldi will be able to be covered within two hours. We also plan to construct several hotels. I am convinced of the success of this project," Prime Minister noted.
Further construction of the resort will start in the summer, and will cost roughly 1000 million GEL. It will be financed by the Georgian Government with the support of the Government of France.
The Theski track of Tetnuldi will be the longest throughout the South Caucasus (9.5 Kms), and will have the largest vertical drop (1.7 KMs).
The construction company assigned a Mestia-Tetnuldi and Tetnuldi-Mestia bus, which will serve customers free of charge. This initiative is aimed at popularizing the resort.
Members of the local population will be employed at Tetnuldi resort. Construction work started in 2015, and its first phase was ended in January 2016.
