Georgia’s PM meets World Bank President

Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met the President of World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, within the framework of his visit to the United States of America.
According to the Government Administration, the conversation between Kvirikashvili and Jim Yong Kim referred to basic issues of cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank as well as the important projects Georgia is implementing with the World Bank’s assistance.
“At the moment, money allocated by the World Bank is approximately 2.4 billion USD at this stage volume of investment projects is 693 million USD,” reads the statement.
According to the Governmental Administration, Georgia’s economic potential and last year’s economic indicators were also discussed during the meeting.
“The meeting focused on the importance of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement for Georgia’s economy, which also opens up new possibilities for trade and economic growth,” reads the statement.
The PM presented a so-called four-point reform plan to the President of the World Bank.
He explained that the Georgian Government aims to bring comprehensive changes which will lead Georgia to development and better future.
“The four-point reform plan means reforms in the fields of the tax and entrepreneurship, infrastructure development, education system reform and professional trainings, strengthening of open government,” stated Kvirikashvili.
According to the Government Administration, WB President expressed full support for the Georgian Government’s comprehensive reforms.
At the end of the meeting, Kvirikashvili underlined that the World Bank is a key partner for Georgia.
He thanked the President for his support in various strategic projects, which are running in Georgia with the help of the World Bank.
