Georgia’s Black Sea sandy beaches go rubbish-free this summer

Thursday, May 12
One of Georgia’s attractive coastal towns boasting black sandy beaches will be rubbish-free this summer.

Tourists visiting the Ureki and Shekvetili beaches on the Black Sea coast will be able to spend their time in the sand and sun while enjoying a clean coastline thanks to the introduction of vehicles that will clean up the beach.

The special vehicles will clean the beach area several times per week during summer.

On May 11 the Georgian National Tourism Administration announced three large beach machines had started to clean up 14km of coastline between 14 km Ureki and Shekhvetili beaches to make the area rubbish-free.

The specially adapted vehicles will ensure the coastline is cleaned quickly and more thoroughly than by hand cleaners. The machines will also be able to remove rubbish from depths of 20cm beneath the sand.

The special vehicles will clean the beach area several times per week during summer. (Agenda.ge)
