The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, Sozar Subari, attended the closing ceremony of a major project that built new houses to 14 Internally Displaced families in the western Samegrelo region.
The project was financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and was implemented by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).
Only Internally Displaced families who do not own agricultural land could participate in the project.
Houses for the 14 families were built on their own lands, and the scales of the accommodations were specified based on the number of family members.
The project also allocated funds for the rehabilitation of three infrastructural institutions in Samegrelo, which included Akhalsopeli village school, Jikhashkari village kindergarten and offices in Chkaduashi.
The Georgian and foreign officials, along with the local population, viewed a documentary at the end of the project's closing ceremony, which depicted the decade-long activities of the SDC in the Samegrelo region.
The SDC generated financial support for other parts of Georgia as well, and completely rehabilitated 35 houses in the Tskaltubo region under the current state leadership, which saw 70 eco-migrant families be granted their own accommodation, the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia said.
