PM says Georgia's popularity increases

The PM made the statement at the Government Session on July 3 adding more tourists are expected the next year. He presented indicators of growth in the tourism area to the members of the Cabinet.
According to the PM, the visitors are not only from neighbouring countries but also from EU member states.
“In the first quarter of 2016, tourism-related income was 354.5 million USD, which is 15.7% higher than last year's similar indicator,” he added.
Kvirikashvili also thanked the team that contributed to the development of tourism direction under the leadership of the Ministry of Economy, Administration of Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Culture.
On August 2, Giorgi Chogovadze, the Head of Georgia’s National Tourism Administration, announced that the number of tourists visiting the country in the first seven months of the year totalled 1,401,914, a 17.5 % increase of 208,436 more visitors than in the same period in 2015.
According to Georgia’s Vice PM and Minister of Economics Dimitri Kumsishvili, the inflow of tourists from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia has increased.
“We also enjoy good number of visitors from Iran as well as United Arab Emirates; people from Russia and Ukraine also often visit Georgia as tourists,” he stated.
