Georgia offers help to Italy amid deadly earthquake

Georgia is ready to provide support for Italy as the country has experienced a deadly earthquake, leaving at least 37 dead and many others injured or trapped under rubble.
Many of the dead were in the village of Pescara del Tronto in central Italy, which was levelled to the ground, and there are fears the number could rise, the BBC reported.
The quake took place on August 23.
As dawn broke, stunned locals wandered through rubble in the worst-affected towns of Amatrice and Accumoli, near Perugia, Italy, NBC News said.
Georgia’s Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, offered condolences over the disaster early in the morning, and tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to “immediately contact” the relevant bodies in Italy for Georgia to provide a “modest contribution” to the affected nation.
The MFA also released a statement today and expressed its deep sorrow over the fatal incident.
The Ministry said there were no Georgians reported among the dead or injured.
