National Wine Agency: 50 mln bottles of Georgian wine exported to 53 countries in 2016

Georgia’s National Wine Agency stated that overall, 50 million bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to 53 foreign countries in 2016, which is 38% higher compared to the data of 2015.
The top five countries that import Georgian wine are as follows:
Russia (27 222 076 bottles),
Ukraine (5 811 050 bottles),
China (5 299 149 bottles),
Kazakhstan (3 393 435 bottles)
Poland (2 329 820 bottles)
Moreover, the Wine Agency said that exports have risen to the European Union, China, the United States (US) and other markets.
Compared to 2015, exports to China grew by 98% (5,299,149 bottles), Ukraine by 70% (5,811,050 bottles), Russia by 49% (27,222,076 bottles), Poland by 46% (2,329,820 bottles), Canada by 34% (210,936 bottles), Belarus by 30% (1,174,362), the UK by 28% (97,226), Estonia by 25% (631,632), Kyrgyzstan by 24% (230,776), the US by 19% (294,382), Latvia by 19% (1,258,632), Japan by 15% (159,654), Germany by 6% (292,454), by the Czech Republic by 353% (119,648).
The National Wine Agency said that the most demanded Georgian wines abroad are Kindzmarauli, Mukuzani, Tsinandali, Akhasheni and Khvanchkara.
In total, exported wines and alcohol beverages brought Georgia $194,3 million income, which is 32% more compared to 2015, when income amounted $146,5 million.
