Georgia to welcome second wind farm: Investors sought for Zestaponi Wind Power Plant

State-owned Georgian Energy Development Fund (GEDF) is searching for an investor to develop Georgia’s second wind power plant.

Following the opening of Georgia’s first wind farm, the 20MW Kartli Wind Power Plant, in October of 2016, the GEDF intends to build a 150MW wind power plant in Zestaponi, in Georgia’s western region of Imereti.

Interested parties can tender their bids and documentation until 18:00 on February 20, 2017.

Once the investor is revealed, the GEDF will establish a joint-venture company for the development and construction of the Zestaponi Wind Power Plant.

The total cost of the Zestaponi Wind Power Plant is estimated at $227 million.

In total, 50 turbines will be installed; the plant will produce 478.2 mln/kwh per hour, announced the Fund.

The Kartli Wind Power Plant cost in total $34 million. The multi-million dollar project was funded by the GEDF, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which provided a loan of $25 million for the project. (Agenda.ge)
