Georgia’s Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, said that Georgia remains a main ally of the United States (US) in the region. Georgian PM thus tried to calm down the concern of the Georgian analysts after the US elected a new President, Donald Trump.
“I would like to congratulate Mr. Trump and wish him every success. Georgia remains a top ally of the US in the region and I hope our strategic cooperation will be deepened in the future,” Kvirikashvili said at a governmental session on January 24.
The PM spoke about America’s role in the world, and noted that Georgia is the USA’s “devoted friend”.
“A strong America is of the utmost importance for peace and stability in the world,” he added.
Moreover, the Prime Minister spoke about the current relations between the two countries and their mutual strategic cooperation.
“We have institutionalized the strategic relationship format, which includes a number of areas: defense, security, economy, trade, energy, democratic development of the country and people-to-people relations,” Kvirikashvili claimed.
The PM noted that Georgia would continue its active cooperation with the US.
“We hope that Georgia-US cooperation will bring positive results. Since Georgia gained independence, the US has always been supporter of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and our key partner. I hope this relationship will be further strengthened,” he underlined.
